Look on the latest posts page to get a preview, and play around with the new tag links...

Hmm...I wonder whether it is possible to "backdate" the journals...

Sorry. You will not be able to back date. Apart from the technical issues, which are the most important in this case, there is also an issue of authenticity about a blog. The date of the posting is one of the fundamental "truths" of a blog.

Thank you, Howard, for keeping motime's integrity intact concerning backdating. Students are continually searching for ways to get around deadlines.

One other very constructive thought - Today I clicked someone's "Link Me" button, and though it went through all the motions, it didn't add her link to my list and didn't go to the "save changes" screen.

I had to add her link the old fashioned way. (gasp!) Maybe it's just an itty bitty bug?

I think it may be defined as a bug. You are earning your keep, altrighty. It's on the to-do.

dear howard:
i'm new to motime, so this is quite a sudden change after i just started up a couple of months ago.
i like things so far (though i'm not crazy about the write and edit windows being on different pages).
my biggest problem with it is that i cannot see the numbers of new posts / comments within the last week (or whatever it was) when i go to my startup page. are you going to change this? it seems like i have less info from the get-go than before.
motime rules, though, i must say.

We have had a few requests to put that back, so we are looking into it... Thanks for your honest comments.

The horizontal button doesn't seem to be working. I can do it manually but it would be so nice to be lazy and push a button.

:o)

The one beside the vertical button!

but seriously I've had fun exploring the new features.

When you are in the editor, the button "insert/edit table" and "insert special character", is the horizontal rule button. I thought it might be my Firefox browser but it's dimmed in Explorer too.

Did you do empty your cache? You MUST close all mo'time windows; it's best to quit your browser and restart it, open it up to Google or something. IN FF empty your cache, in IE delete your temporary internet files.

now try it. let me know if that helped.

I emptied the cache in both IE and Firefox. The horizontal rule button works in Firefox but not in IE. However, if I restart or refresh Firefox the horizontal rule button is dimmed.

Another thing I have noticed when using the editor, when typing a post, there seems to be a sort of lag between my typing and what appears on the screen. Is that something that could just be me?

I am assuming you are in Windows (what version?) and IE 6 and FF 1, right?

There's obviously some strange bugs in this version of the editor but they are very inconsistent among people with the same setup, and work well on our Windows IE and FF machines. My FF on the iMac acts funny though, but on my powerbook it is fine.

We will continue to explore these issues, but I can't promise how soon we'll find the problem.

Yes, I'm using IE 6, and FF 1.0.1, and I'm using Windows XP.

I understand these things take time. I can usually figure out a work around that does the trick.

Thanks
