New Editor

We have added features to the blog editor interface this weekend. Here's a review of what's new under the Blogs tab of the editor:

Post tab -> Write: If you are using Internet Explorer (versione 5.5 or higher) or Firefox you will see some changes in the editor layout.

Underneath the main posting window:
    • you can choose to allow comments (or hide existing comments, disallowing future ones) for that individual post;
    • you can preview the post (as before); and
    • users who choose to uprade to our new premium service, mo'pro (now in soft-launch, beta testing) you can now:
          - save drafts of your posts;
          - change the time and date of your old posts; and
          - schedule drafts to be posted in the future.

Post tab -> Manage:  All users can now apply certain edits across a whole range of posts in just one page, also known as "batch editing". You can view a list of your old posts by month, tag and other attributes and then modify the comment status, tag and, for mo'pro members, draft/published status and the time/date on one or more of the displayed posts.

Just try it. Hopefully it's easier to use than it is to explain. We are currently rewriting the user manual to cover the multimedia features, these editor updates and the mo'pro account.

Please post to the help blog if you have any specific questions about this.

Following your feedback about the premium plans, we will developing new accounts in the next few weeks. Thanks to everyone for the input.

I keep getting the message "XML Response Not Available" whenever I try to post. What's up with that?

President Nice, that is a "debugging" error message that should no longer be appearing. If it persists, empty the cache or Temporary Internet Files in your browser. If you don't know how, follow the instructions about that on this post on the help blog.

oceanflower: try the same advice as in comment #4!

cloudycow921: thanks -- we've just started. there will be improvements to the multimedia section to make it easier to use, explore and share.

The GoogleAds which can be placed on your blog for extra storage space, instead of paying for a subscription, should be online within 4-8 weeks.

because Word is inserting "hidden" code into the editor. To see and delete it, click on the "Source" button in the editor (after clicking on the "Edit" button of the post to load it back into your editor). Notice the extra space in between the paragraphs in the form of "<p>&nbsp;</p>". Avoid pasting in from Word, it enters non-standard HTML into your blog. Try pasting the Word text into a text editor like Note Pad to "clean" it of formatting, and then copy and paste into your blog.
