Downtime advisory, so get a life!! ;-)

Saturday, May 6, 2006 from 6:00 p.m. GMT through to 6:00 a.m. on Sunday we'll be off the air. Your blogs will be offline for only a short time; for the most part they will be online and readable. The home page and website may also be visible, but you will not be able to post or otherwise administer your blogs.

As usual, here are a few links to help you figure out when the downtime will happen in your time zone:

What time is it now in GMT?
Use this time converter to calculate the time for your time zone.

WHY, you may ask?

Once again, we are getting ready to add some features and improve the interface of Mo'time. We will be revamping the look and feel of the place... a lot less blue and a lot more white. Most importantly, when you come to the Mo'time homepage, either logged-in or not, you will be able to see the latest blogs, who's online and a general snapshot of what's happening. After logging in, your blogging controls will occupy a much smaller space on the home page, showing only the most frequently used controls. You will find all the other commands just one-click away from the home page control center. The much-talked about advertisements will appear only on the Mo'time pages and not in, on or near your blogs at this stage.

This is just the first step in a series. We want to improve upon the ways in which you can communicate with each other, both one-to-one and in groups, through chat and in private messages, through voice and video chat -- what are generally called the community features. In addition, as far as the advertisements go, we are putting the finishing touches on a system which responds pretty well to all the concerns that everyone expressed in this thread.

There will also be improvements in the handling of photos, videos and sound files plus more and more advanced blogging features such as saving of draft posts, setting posts to automatically publish in the future, posting via email, separate static pages for articles, CV's and such and so on...

Things went relatively well. Please let me know about the inevitable things that don't work quite right. We'll be adjusting and tweaking over the next few days. And, of course, my door is open for accepting all comments, suggestions and criticism.

I'm going to bed!

I like the new look. Since it's not yet possible to post (two more hours), I can't comment on the rest.

I am sure this is all a bad dream. . .when I wake in the morning. . .sometime after your noon espresso and gelato. . .I am hoping to find a button to allow me to post on my blog.

Really. The new screen is looking good, even if my tired and dyslexic brain can't figure it out.

We'll have to pump up that part of the interface, obviously, but if you click on your blog's name in the list of your blog in the blue box on the left of your screen -- you go right to the editor.

Clicking on the "gear" icon gives you a popup with lots of choices, including posting and, finally, clicking on the "Blogs" tab on top will dump you right into your familiar editor!

Thanks for, um, pointing out that this essential piece of info is not as obvious as it should be. I'll work on it!

Same question. I like the new face, but how do I post? Where is the "little house"?

Just woken up to your wonderful advice. . .but perhaps my sleep encrusted eyes are missing something.

"Gear" has no option for posting, yet. Blue box on left??? No blog name. And no blog tab at the top. :(

I'll have the wife pinch me, perhaps I'm still asleep. . . .Mac, Firefox could you be letting me down? Time for my own espresso and a scone.

I'm using Firefox on a Mac and I have (and did all night) all of the things on the left when I go to www.motime.com. Obviously those things don't show up on this page, but they do on the home page.
