Bumpy ride

Hi Gang,

The new version is online, but you still will not be able to post (in theory) for a while, until the main bug testing is finished, that will be tomorrow morning here in UTC+1, Italy.

There will certainly be lots of little things to fix, so send me a mo'mail or email [ howard at motime.com ] listing the problems that you encountered.

I'm sure there are things about the new layout that you will not like, or will disorient you, at the start. I'm on your side about that, but that was the price to pay to getting the software upgraded and getting us on the path to better features and easier blogging.

Sorry for the inevitable shock, but the most important thing is that we are all still here and kicking. (And screaming?)

Hi, Howard, It's lovely. And I mean that in the most sincere, complimentary, and wait-for-it-there's-a-"but"-coming kind of way. Really, I like it ... but ...
• you asked me to mo'mail you with bugs, but I can't; I'm apparently not entitled to private mail;
• there are many places on my blog where links are not visible. In particular, I've noticed my blogroll, links within posts, and the footer are invisible. I can see the links when I mouse over, but until then they're white on white.
• Mo'time doesn't remember that I was just logged in, as it used to. It's my habit to close the dashboard frequently (particularly when I'm at work), and now I need to log back in every time.

The new look is very nice, but so far it has all the same features of the old look. I assume new vibrant clickiness is on the way, and in particular I can't wait to see the new templates.

Onward! Upward! Let's hear it for Mo'Time!

Coop. Right you are.

• Mo'mail should be turned on now.
• Invisible links: well the new code on the "top bar" seems to affect the blog below, so if you have a dark top bar with light links, it louses up the leggibility below. We are working on a fix to this. Changing your top bar to "silver" in the template tab should fix this temporarily. You will see the changes on the blog after posting or making a change in the template code itself and saving it...
• The logging in problem, yes I have that too. Do you know how to eliminate your Motime cookies? And don't make some wisecrack about vomiting, ok? Seriously, counselor, find and eliminate any and all cookies from motime.com in your browser(s) and then login again. Let me know if that works. It is a pesky problem that I'd like to keep an eye on.

I do like the new look, but have not yet had enough satellite access time to navigate it thoroughly.

One odd bug: my homepage, when I am not logged in, that my readers see, is no longer December 2008, but March 2007. Though I enjoy the nostalgic trip through my older blog posts, I'd rather my readers realize I am still at the South Pole and not in New Zealand.

What up?

Mara, cutting and pasting is a function of your PC and I don't see how the Motime update could effect that. Just to be on the safe side, you should empty the cache of your browser and then open the post editor again.

Genevieve, that was a database update problem that was fixed automatically the moment that you published a new post. Sorry for the scare!

Jackal, party at your house??!!!

Hi, Howard. Your advice is gold:
• my Mo'Mail works
• my links are blue
• I stay logged in after closing the page

Bless you and your pongo-like children. I might just segnala you an il post to let you know that in person.

One more small thing ... I can't post! I think it's because my media folder is full, but I don't use that any more. What does it all mean, Doc?

Your need to communicate at all costs rewards us with the best comment section in the universe, despite the technical barriers that you had to scale in order to do this. Tip of the Mo'time hat to you, Lord Cooper.

The editor problem can probably be resolved by emptying that nasty cache of yours. Atchoooo!

My Mo'mail address is simply "howard". Howard (at) Motime.com is my actual, old fashioned email address and Jabber ID for those who know what that is.

As for not posting because of your media folder being full, I'll check that out, but I do not think the two are related.

Did you spy any other italian over and above the segnala il post button????

Dimmi tutto!

Oh one more thing, yes, changing the top bar color thing was necessary to fix the link color thing *yesterday* that was fixed. You should be able to use the dark colors without having your links turn invisible now.

I LOVE the latest activities section.

I changed the color of my top section and I can see my links now, but here on this blog, I still can't see them.

My mail is screwed up. The reply you sent me yesterday is all meshed together. The words, I mean. Not to mention, no matter how many times I open it, it still thinks it's new mail!

You're all doing such a good job of getting things fixed as quickly as possible. THANK YOU!!!

(And don't worry about switching our blog boxes to the right of the screen. I'll only need minimal therapy for that. ;) )

Stupid me, I had convinced myself that I had emptied the cache, but of course I hadn't. It was the litterbox (they're quite similar). Thanks, Howard, that did it.

And by the way ... Cerca in questo blog. If that's a search function, then it's a good one. That's the only other Italian I can see.

Cerca in questo blog, will eventually be retired until the search function actually works. Hopefully before Christmas.
