I am really sorry to hear this. Even more than sorry, but I'll leave it at that for now.  Changing the blog address is a very big deal and will mean that all the links to our blogs on other blogs and in the search engines will lead to a "page not found" error... not good. At all.

       

this is a big change. i've been a motime user since 2004. many friends have invited me to switch to other blog platforms. but i have remained loyal to motime. now, this change. it will affect everything. including how our friends and followers subscribe to our blog.

please re-consider your decision

That's really too bad news.  I've been here since 2003 and this is a huge change.  I was leaving anyways because of various reasons - making my announcement today - I was having a very hard time making the decision to leave after all these years here but this is making it easier.

I am not going to advise everybody who links to my site, most of whom are outside Mo'time, of my new splinder address.  I already have a Blogspot address, so I guess I will advise them of that instead.  I'm moving.

This is shortsighted, and painful to digest.  I can only imagine how upset those poor saps must feel who shelled out good money for Mo'Pro.  Thanks for the generous one-week's notice, by the way.

I dont think this is Lucyblades personal doing, I'm sure the man is behind is somewhere but its still bogus and extremely short notice.   I know our blogs arent the cure for cancer but its been 6 great years here.  What about peeps that only pop in occasionally, they're just going to be shut out without knowing what happened to their blogs.  I for one miss the good old days when h ruled the world!

I knew this was going to happen some day. I was very sad when I received the email telling me of the swtich. I have never been a fan of splinder so I guess I will disappear from the blogsphere. It was a great experience to be part of Mo'time. I found friends that were amaizing.

Ok, I just  came back to motime after being irritated at it since the "THEM" took over from splinder.  It got worse.  Now, we aren't even treated the same way.  No one in theiry right mind in this Web 2.0 era chould ever have to type in futuremaestro.us.motime.com.  People at plinder only type in futuremaestro.splinder.com.  I am sorry splinder, that you can't come up with a sane and smoother solution.  Perhaps you should have thought out your business model for your HTML/CSS vs. happy bloggers (WHICH IS WHERE YOU GET YOUR MONEY!)  Take a lesson from facebook and blogger.  They are successful in America for a reason.  You don't pay me to tell you what it is.  Go figure it out.

A worthy maxim and one which we all probably subscribe to in relation to this name change. I had just persaded the choir I belong to to try a blog as a model for social interaction and it was an uphill struggle to get people to join but this is not going to help.

Well done Howard for setting up a meeting place. Actually this raises the whole issue of what lies at the heart of the Mo'time experience and why we are all upset - and it is not the inconvenience of re-setting links (though thats bad enough!) - its the friendships we have found here.

So there is no reason why we should lose touch. Already I am in contact with some people through Facebook and I supose that it is in the nature of life that there is change and the whole internet experience constantly evolves and if we find a little plateau of stability on which to rest and converse for a while - enjoy it while you can...

So I shall be reaching out to make new links to those I don't already have, I shall see how the new regime goes and I shall try to treat this as a forced envronmental stimulus to evolve a bit more!

I won't say goodbye but rather - until we meet again...

Lailing, "Splinder" is Italian for "Sphincter".  It' s the gateway to your soul (via the servan't entrance, unfortunately), and it is inclined to slam shut when there is a little tension in the air.

I am extremely upset that my two blogs on my most favourite subjects are to be lost. My Africa blog  and  my Animals Blog.
I did not really understand what was happening, so I have no idea
if I will see Mara and Minz again.  I feel a part of me will die.

Just been on the new blog to us Splinder.com.
It is all in Italian - I dont understand a word......

Gee -- what do ya know.... not only do I not exist at the sphincter -- but I can't even get any sort of real feed from the italian one.  Then - once I solved that it does not have any news about opening a us link --- somehow I think this is all going to go horribly pear shaped.

I went through what I have here -- some great stuff - some mediocre stuff - and other bits and pieces that relive memories, moments and snapshots in time.   I just exported all of it to my desktop folder -- to read through at a later date.....

But -- I did move over to Blogger... googles answer to blogging -- and so far I find that the options and format is fairly easy -- although it feels not at all like the community that was created here.  I will gravitate to your collection Howard -- to find where others are - and to keep up.

Isn't it D Day for us?

I have no idea of when "it" will happen, but there will be a time of automatic redirects so that the old address will work for a (hopefully long) while.

WHen that happens, you will see that the blog's address will change upon being redirected, then you'll know the change is in effect.

I am guessing, but I am not sure, that the home page of ex-Motime will be http://us.spinder.com or maybe with the www, again I don't know. That site will be exactly like Motime is today, in English, with the same blogs and community as Motime. There will be no mixing of the Italian and Motime sites as far as that goes.

Let me express my warm and fuzzy feelings at reading your thoughts on Motime. You should all know that it has been a profound learning experience for me and that I loved watching you the people arrive, populate, write, read, comment and develop relationships. I loved being your helper and web-deity  ;-)

Anyway, those of you who set up new blogs, keep posting the address here as you've been doing. We also have ClubMotime on ning as clubhouse for parties and little get togethers.

well. not much for me to add, but since this seems like signing a farewell card i felt compelled. 

this was my first experience in reading and writing blogs back in 2003 when a friend of mine turned me on to motime. i was fascinated and impressed with the quality and richness of the bloggers and their writing. and the sense of community we shared. it made me into a regular poster knowing that some of you would actually read what i decided to write - and since their was so much good writing i tried to be careful to not post drivel.

over the course of time some of my favorites dropped off, some moving some just disappearing.  this was not unexpected, things change, but it was a bit disappointing to not be able to keep up with them.

now it seems many are leaving. i may soon too.

As upset as I am with the change in URL, I think it would be hasty to leave just for the sake of leaving. Those without huge issues about being linked from sites *outside* of Motime itself should not really experience any pain. (And I'm hoping that the automatic redirect will stay in place for a long time, if not forever! So that anyone visiting your standard motime.com address will be magically transported to the "poetic" us.splinder.com address.)

@lailing: if you don't switch to Splinder, your homepage will keep linking to motime.com. Links to motime.com will become soon unavailable, so you'd better start from now to update your profile and set the correct homepage.

automatic redirect no longer works. if i type the motime url of my blog, the page will show that the blog has been deleted or has a new address. i wish automatic redirect will be returned and hopefully will stay for a long time

some of my subscribers have emailed me and asked if  it is true that i have deleted my blog. what about those who don't know my email?
